The Draper 39087 is a very versatile piece of kit for quite a reasonable price. For under £150 you get a powerful 2 in 1 vacuum/blower combination capable of handling a variety of tasks.
Firstly, at 11kg it will require you to support the tool with both arms, but it still remains reasonably light for a petrol blower. Great news if you plan on extended use or require a lot of precision depending on where you aim. The handle is a perfect width and all the controls are in a reachable position. The last thing you want to be doing is making awkward movements while holding a moderately heavy piece of kit like this, and thankfully there is no such issue with this product.
The bag can hold quite a lot of waste matter and it’s sturdy, so you won’t ever feel like it’s about to fall off like a lot of other blowers out there. However, the fabric isn’t that thick so don’t be too surprised to find small tears in it after using it for a year or two. Some users of this blower have had issues with thorns and small stones getting sucked in and causing damage to the bag, in some cases piercing it. You’ll need to keep an eye on what you’re sucking up because of this (avoid thorns and sharp twigs and stones), but otherwise it’s fine.
The other issue is the noise, it can be quite overwhelming and could use some suppression. Ear defender use is definitely recommended.
• Reliable, sturdy product
• Comfortable design to hold
• Easily accessible controls
• Bag material could be stronger
• Very noisy
With this product you’re paying for a great 2 in 1 package that you’ll definitely be using for years. The only thing to keep in mind is to take care if there are small bits of sharp debris around the garden or drive as these could seriously damage the blower, and especially the bag.
