Combining dry and wet vacuuming action, the classic Black and Decker ‘Dustbuster’ is excellent value for money. The suction is quite powerful, and the battery life is also adequate for limited use. Though this device may not make the top of the best hand-held vac list, it still cleans hard to reach places sufficiently well.
Thanks to its ergonomic design, this dustbuster is extremely user-friendly, and because it combines wet and dry vacuuming, you can use it just about anywhere in the house, garage, or garden. The convenience of wet vacuuming has certainly impressed me. With this dustbuster, you can clean up any kitchen or bathroom spills easily and quickly without worrying about damaging the vac. The wide mouth also allows you to pick up large debris, while other front attachments help you to access tight and hard-to-reach corners and narrow spaces.
I bought this device to clean kitchen presses, my laptop, the top of my curtain rails, and all those hard to reach corners and I am happy with the results. The fact that you can also “mop up” spills is an added bonus. No more separate dry and wet cleaning! Perhaps, the only downside is its power. When I tried it in the car, the suction was only strong enough for loose dust and spills, failed, however, to remove sticky dust and pet hair.
You get the best performance, if you regularly empty and clean the dirt bowl and filters. If you don’t, the suction decreases, and the dirt may clog up the motor. Some time, the dirt even starts to “spit out” at the back!
The most disappointing feature of this cordless dustbuster is the 8-minute runtime. That’s just not long enough! I found myself wasting a lot of time, waiting for the battery to recharge. Very frustrating indeed!
Ultimately, the Black & Decker Wet and Dry Cordless Dustbuster is only sufficiently powerful for limited, infrequent use. If you are happy to just get 8 minutes of runtime, you will love this device, if, however, your cleaning routine demands more time, you are better off choosing a more expensive, handheld vacuum.
