Ego LB4800E Leaf Blower Review

Ego LB4800E Leaf Blower, a Turbine Fan Monster

EGO is a market leader when it comes to cordless, battery-operated garden tools. They deliver lawn mowers, snow blowers, chainsaws, string and hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.

The company claims that the LB48008E is the most powerful rechargeable leaf blower on the market, and if you try it out, you will probably agree. As much as you are likely to admire its power, battery-powered garden tools also require adequate weather protection. The EGO LB4800E features the brand’s IPX4 weather resistant design and holds up pretty well during mild rain.

Another interesting feature of this Ego leaf blower is the turbine fan, considered by company research as one of the strongest features. After a lot of research in aeronautics, the company came up with a fan design that really helps the high-efficiency brushless engine to transfer every ounce of energy it generates. The design of the tool is visually impressive, much like with all EGO tools. This might not be significant, however you might be interested to hear that the tool is extremely lightweight.

There are three different speed levels: the high efficiency setting of 250 CFM, a high power option of 385, and a turbo booster setting that can produce 480 cubic feet per minute. The 2.0 Ah 56-volt lithium-ion battery is impressive beyond belief, probably one of the best of its kind.

With that said, no matter how powerful it is, it is still a battery. On the highest setting, the LB4800E lasts only about 10 to 15 minutes depending on how old your unit is. That is not convenient, even if you factor in that the device has short charging times of approximately 30 minutes. That doesn’t sound great, but there is good news. The machine is capable of a solid output on the first two speed settings too, so you might not even want to use the third and highest setting.

Pros

  • Sturdy design
  • Good weight to power ratio
  • Excellent balance
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Reduced vibration
  • Good durability
  • Turbine fan

Cons

  • Very short run time on the highest speed

EGO has convinced many non-believers that cordless designs can be just as good. Given a chance, the LB4800E is likely to win you over too, as it delivers a similar performance to gas-powered leaf blowers, and only falls down on the short running times when set at the highest speed.
