Q Garden QGBV2500 Leaf Blower Vacuum Review

This leaf blower is very easy to put together and is great for maintaining small, compact gardens driveways, and pathways. If you haven’t used a tool like this before you shouldn’t have any problems piecing it all together before you take it out for a spin. The shoulder strap fits quite nicely and is very comfortable, which is essential for something you’ll be holding on to for quite a while.

This comfort you’ll experience when using this blower is also partly due to it’s weight, 4.2kg really isn’t a lot, although admittedly it isn’t the lightest blower either. Granted, it will also be a little bit heavier once you attach the collection bag and cable, but this is negligible and you won’t notice the added weight. This means you can focus on what you’re doing rather than trying not to fall over! We also suggest emtyping the bag before it gets to full, as the added weight and bulk can be irritating to carry around.

Retailing at an average of £25 less than other blowers from competing brands you get a lot for your money with the QGBV2500. Obviously it’s both a blower and a vacuum, and if you’ve got a lot of leaves to dispose of you’ll be glad to know there’s an internal shredding mechanism, shredding the leaves to a tenth of their original size so that you’re left with either a useful mulch, or a product that’s easily disposed of.

The only bad thing  about this blower is the length of the power cable. 6 meters isn’t that long, especially if your garden is longer than this. You might not be able to reach the whole way so take note of that before purchasing, and be prepared with an extension lead if you do.

Pros

  • Fairly ightweight (4.2kg) and easy to move around with
  • Comfortable shoulder trap, great for extended periods of use
  • Capable of both vacuuming and blowing wet and dry leaves – just be reasonable, it’s not a petrol blower after all!

Cons

  • Cable length. As already mentioned, make sure you measure your garden first, or else you might be slightly irritated when you can’t reach everywhere you need to. However, if you have a decent extension cable then it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Conclusion

If you have a small garden, or an enclosed space to clear, this is a great option, not least because it’s such great value for money. Besides that it’s really effective at what it does, and there have been very few quibbles as far as performance goes from other consumers. Some users have complained about the overall reliability of the QGBV2500, with some horror stories stating that it conked out after just a few uses. In this respect it seems there is an element of risk if you do buy this blower, but there again that could well be a risk worth taking if a) you don’t feel you can justify spending a lot on a leaf blower, and b) you’ll only be using it a few times a year, and thus you’ll effectively get a lot of years of use out of it before there is any chance of it failing.
