Silverline Silverstorm 731590 Blower Vacuum Review

Once you actually put this product together it becomes a valued member of your garden shed toolbox. We say that, because there isn’t much guidance and it can be a bit fiddly. It would be useful to have a exploded view diagram within the manual so that you could clearly see which screws are required to go where, along with the exact mechanism for connecting the pieces. In a way though this is all to be expected, Silverline are very much a budget tool manufacturer, and one way they are able to keep their costs down to consumers is to… well, cut corners!

None the less once you switch the Silverstorm 731590 on and began using it, you’ll soon realise it was all worth it. The shoulder harness allows it to sit nicely while you work and should stay comfortable through the duration of use.

The collection bag is 40L, which is more than enough to suit the majority of gardens without the need to constantly empty it. Given the design of the blower it will never sag or hit the ground even when full. It’s also simple to detach and empty – so top marks in this respect.

Choosing between blowing and vacuuming modes is very easy, the switch is conveniently placed and doesn’t require much effort to lift. Usability is by far the Silverstorm’s best trait because of this. There are several other models on the market which require you to stop completely before altering modes, although they might argue there are valid safety reasons for doing so, in this case you just need to be a bit sensible and plan ahead before you do change mode.

Pros

  • Large, well placed collection bag – means the tool is well balanced and the bag won’t drag along the ground
  • Comfortable shoulder strap for longer work periods
  • Easy to switch between sucking and blowing modes

Cons

  • Difficult to put together – clearer instructions would have been nice, as it is a bit of brain power is needed!

Conclusion

If this is your first leaf blower you’ll be very happy with your purchase. It’s cheap compared to other brands and brings a lot to the table, especially when considered in that light. It takes a while to set up, but it makes quick work of all the blowing and vacuum tasks in small to medium gardens, so we highly recommend this as one of the most cost effective electric leaf blowers on the market.
