Evolution FURY3-B Mitre Saw Review

A fine mitre saw from the Evolution brand, the Fury3-B  does exactly as its name suggests, cutting fury through everything put in its way. It can be used to cut wood, steel and aluminium, all without having to switch between blades. A real workhorse this may be, but at the same time, it is small and consumes minimal space in the workshop. If you’re a jobbing tradesman, this saw is just the job because you can carry it from place to place easily, and its lightweight construction makes it easily portable.

Among its physical attributes this saw is rugged and sturdy, this ensures you of endurance when working, so you don’t need to worry about it shaking itself to pieces! And given that it comes with a three-year warranty in the UK, it’s pretty clear that the manufacturers are confident with what they’ve produced in this saw. Fairly typically among mitre saws, the cutting depth of this model can be extended up to 3 inches, but it is not advisable to press it too much. It’s always best play safe as far as power tools are concerned.

You’ll need to cut slowly when it comes to cutting plastics and metals for a superior, cleaner cut. However, when it comes to wood, even wood riddled with nails, the Evolution Fury3-B will work like a charm at any speed. Just like its sister, the Evolution Rage, this mitre saw can be tilted and slid to cut through different angles, from 0 to 15, 22.5, 30 and 45 degrees, both to the left and to the right. At the point of contact with the material you’re cutting, there will be no heat buildup, meaning that you can carry on working without worrying about anything smouldering! The cutting width is 210mm and the motor output is 230V, about 1100 watts, pretty modest in terms of mitre saws overall, but still useful for a range of applications.

Pros

  • Tilt-able and sliding design to cut at a variety different angles
  • Can cut through wood with nails like butter
  • Can cut through aluminium and steel easily using the same blade as you used for wood, saving time you and effort
  • The ergonomic grip fits snugly into your palm as you cut, therefore your finger won’t be fatigued even when you work for a long time

  • This saw can’t be used on pieces that are too big, it’s best for smaller scale projects and DIY

Conclusion

The Evolution FURY mitre saw is a great choice for the do it yourself users, thanks to its compact nature and high power output to size ratio.
